The first four white papers in the series are currently available for download and Computar plans on adding to this resource on a regular basis. “Our white paper series is an invaluable tool for those seeking more guidance in lens selection and a better understanding of optics.” stated Terry Sekiya, Sales and Marketing Manager, Computar Optics Group.

The first white paper Seven Important Factors When Selecting a Machine Vision Lens focuses on the basic elements of selecting the proper lens for a machine vision application. Round Lens; Square Pixels; Accurate Images Really? outlines the steps in transforming illumination of objects through the lens to digital images and some caveat. Simple FA Lens Selection describes a step-by-step process for selecting a lens for a camera in an FA application. The papers are written by Pete Kepf, a Lens Business Development Executive for Computar, Industrial Optics Division. Over his 30-year automation career, he has performed hundreds of machine vision installations and evaluations. Pete is a Certified Vision Professional-Advanced and a member of SPIE and MVA.
